Unlock the Secrets of Japan: Insider Tips and Seasonal Wonders

Cultural Etiquette

Tipping is not customary in Japan and can even be considered rude. Instead, show appreciation through polite gestures, such as a bow or a sincere "arigato" (thank you). Service staff are trained to provide excellent service without the expectation of gratuities.

Local Transportation

Japan has an efficient and extensive public transportation system, including trains, buses, and subways. In large cities, like Tokyo, trains and subways are the quickest way to get around. It’s advisable to get a Japan Rail Pass for longer journeys or plan your routes using apps like Google Map.

Currency

The currency used in Japan is the Japanese Yen (JPY). Credit cards are widely accepted in major cities, but cash is still important, especially in smaller towns and rural areas. It's a good idea to withdraw cash in advance, as not all ATMs may accept foreign cards. Keep in mind that many shops prefer cash.

However, it’s also the start of the rainy season, so be prepared for occasional downpours. Make sure to stay hydrated and wear light, breathable clothing.
